Returning of Jerseys -
If your team is eliminated in the playoffs, you MUST return your team jersey and socks that night or by April 26. Failure to do so may result in a HK$300 fine and will need to be paid in order to play in the Hockey 5’s tournament or summer league.
HKGFM defeated Smirnoff Ice 4-3 in Overtime
HKGFM – Anthony Davis 3g, Dan Koborg 2a, Ronald Mathez 1g, Bob Ring, Ward Cameron, Bryan MacFarlane, 1a each. Warren Mclnnes with 25 saves.
Smirnoff Ice – Patrick Neundorfer 2g 1a, Ryan Grimes 1g, Daniel McLellan, Chad Hawse, 1a each. Mark Sigson with 23 saves.
The KEG 3 Stars of the game – 1) Anthony Davis 2) Warren Mclnnes 3) Ronald Mathez
Recap – Anthony Davis scored with 2:31 remaining in overtime, to give HKGFM the win and the Division 1 Championship. It was Anthony’s hat trick goal as he batted in his own rebound past Mark Sigson. Prior to overtime, the teams played to an exciting third period. Smirnoff Ice lead 1-0 after the first when Ryan Grimes roofed in a rebound, after Warren McInnes stopped Patrick Neundorfer off a faceoff. No score in the second. In the third, HKGFM exploded for 2 quick goals - Anthony Davis at 11:04 and Ronnie Mathez at 9:48. A wild end to the third period – Neundorfer tied the game at 3:42. But just a minute later, Neundorfer put Smirnoff Ice up 3-2 when he was sent in all alone and made a nice deke to his backhand for the go ahead goal. Late in the game, McInness was pulled for the extra attacker and Smirnoff Ice had a glorious chance to get an insurance goal. However, Bob Ring made a great save on Neundorfer and HKGFM came up the ice. After a scramble in front of Siggy, Anthony Davis scored his second goal of the night, sending the game into OT. In OT – Anthony Davis scored the winner giving HKGFM the title.
